Typhoon "Soulik" is expected to make landfall along the central coastal region of Vietnam
The tropical depression in the South China Sea has intensified into this year's 15th typhoon, "Soulik" (Tropical Storm) in the morning of 19th Sep. At 2:00 a.m.(UTC), its center was located about 115 kilometers northeast of Dong Ha City, Vietnam. It is expected that "Soulik" will move southwestward at a speed of about 15 kilometers per hour and make landfall along the central coast of Vietnam tonight (Tropical Storm). Subsequently, its intensity will gradually weaken.
Affected by "Soulik", from 19th to 22nd Sep., heavy rainfall will occur from east to west in the northern and central parts of Vietnam, Laos, northern Thailand, and Myanmar. Some areas in the northern and central Vietnam, southern Laos, northern Thailand, and southern Myanmar will experience torrential rainstorms. The accumulated precipitation during this period will reach 80-200mm, with parts of northern and central Vietnam and southern Laos possibly reaching 250-400mm, and locally exceeding 500mm.
