Typhoon “Kong-rey” will affect the Philippines
The center of Typhoon "Kong-rey" (severe tropical storm level) was located at approximately 920 kilometers to the southeast of Taitung City, Taiwan Province of China, over the Northwestern Pacific Ocean, at 05:00 AM (BJT) on the 29th. The coordinates were latitude 17.4 degrees north and longitude 127.8 degrees east. The maximum sustained wind near the center reached 11 levels (30 meters per second), with the minimum central pressure at 980 hectopascals. The radius of the 7-level wind field is 330-450 kilometers, and the radius of the 10-level wind field is 60-80 kilometers.
It is expected that Typhoon "Kong-rey" will move northwestward at a speed of 15-20 kilometers per hour, gradually intensifying, with the maximum intensity reaching severe typhoon or super typhoon level (48-55 m/s, 15-16 levels). Affected by this, from October 29th to 31st, there will be strong winds with speeds of 6-8 levels and gusts of 9-10 levels in the central and northern parts of the Philippines, with offshore wind speeds reaching 9-10 levels and gusts of 11-12 levels in the northern Philippines; heavy to heavy rain will occur in northern Philippines, with local heavy rainstorm or extremely heavy rainstorm.
