Central and Western Asia are experiencing severe rain and snowfall
Under the continuous influence of an upper-level deep trough (Figure 1), widespread precipitation in the form of rain and snow is expected across most of Central Asia and northern West Asia from March 3 to 7. Regions including Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, northern Pakistan, eastern Turkey, and Azerbaijan will experience moderate to heavy snow or sleet, with localized areas likely to see severe or extreme snowfall. Accumulated precipitation is forecasted to range from 10 to 20 millimeters, with some local areas exceeding 35 millimeters (Figure 2). Additionally, these regions will experience a temperature drop of 4 to 8 degrees Celsius. Attention should be given to the adverse impacts of this inclement weather on local power infrastructure, transportation, and other industries.
