Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay to Experience Heavy Rainfall
Affected by the eastward movement of an upper-level trough (Figure 1), a significant rainfall event is expected in the central and southern regions of South America from April 14 to 16. Moderate to heavy rain, with localized downpours or intense rain, will occur in northern Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. In some of these areas, cumulative rainfall during this period is anticipated to be between 50 and 80 millimeters, with parts of northern Santa Fe Province and southern Chaco Province in Argentina potentially exceeding 110 millimeters (Figure 2). Additionally, some regions will experience strong winds of 4 to 6 on the Beaufort scale, with gusts exceeding 7 (Figure 3). Attention should be given to the potential secondary disasters such as flash floods and urban flooding that may result from the heavy rainfall.
