The Third China-ASEAN Meteorological Cooperation Forum held in Nanning, China from September 16 to 17, 2023 was co-hosted by China Meteorological Administration and The People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, organized by CMA’s Meteorological Service of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The events of the forum were attended by a total of 79 participants, including key leaders from meteorological and hydrological services of China and ASEAN countries, representatives of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Typhoon Committee and other international organizations, as well as representatives from Hong Kong and Macao of China.

This forumthemed “A New Chapter in Regional Cooperation: Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Benefit the People” witnessed the 20th anniversary of strategic cooperation relationship between China and ASEAN countries. The major outcomes of this forum include the facilitation of the implementation of UN Early Warnings for All Initiative, launch of the Belt and Road Meteorological Visiting Scholarship programme, enriching the data application of Fengyun meteorological satellites by co-development of FENGYUN Earth system, more close bilateral cooperation between CMA and NMHSs of ASEAN countries, etc. The Technical Exchange Meeting of the China-ASEAN Meteorological Forum, the Meteorological Equipment and Services Exhibition of the China-ASEAN Expo, and the Session in the Field of Meteorological Science and Technology betweenChina Meteorological Administration (CMA) respectively and Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Thai Meteorological Department, Malaysian Meteorological Department and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Viet Nam were held concurrently.
