Bolivia and Brazil Experience Persistent Heavy Rainfall
Under the combined influence of a low-pressure system and an upper-level trough (Figure 1), continuous precipitation is expected in central South America from February 25 to 28. Specifically, parts of central and northern Bolivia, central and eastern Brazil, southern Peru, western Colombia, and Ecuador will experience moderate to heavy rain, with localized areas facing torrential or extreme downpours. The cumulative rainfall in most of these regions is anticipated to be between 40-80 millimeters, with some areas receiving 100-140 millimeters, and locally exceeding 160 millimeters (Figure 2). Attention should be given to the potential secondary disasters such as flash floods and urban flooding that may result from the persistent heavy rainfall.
