Central Asia to Experience Strong Winds, Cooling, and Rain and Snow
Affected by a strong cold air mass (Figure 1), it is expected that from March 9 to 11, most of Central Asia will experience a temperature drop of 6 to 10°C, with localized areas seeing a drop of over 14°C (Figure 2). Some regions will be accompanied by winds of 5 to 6 on the Beaufort scale, with gusts exceeding 8. In Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and the southeastern part of Kazakhstan, among other areas, moderate to heavy snow or sleet is anticipated, with localized heavy snowfall or blizzards (Figure 3). The cumulative precipitation in these regions is expected to be between 15 and 30 mm, with some local areas receiving over 40 mm. Attention should be paid to the adverse impacts of gusty winds, temperature drops, rain and snow on transportation and travel.
