Typhoon “Penha” to Make Landfall in the Philippines
At 00:00 UTC on the 5th, the center of Typhoon “Penha” (the 2nd typhoon of the year, Tropical Storm level) was located over the ocean approximately 1,180 km to the southeast of Manila, the Philippines. Over the next three days, “Penha” is expected to move west-northwestward with intensified strength, make landfall on the southeastern coast of the Philippines in the nighttime of the 5th, and then traverse the central and southern parts of the Philippines.
Affected by the typhoon, moderate to heavy rains will hit the Philippines, with torrential rains or extreme torrential rains in some areas. The accumulated precipitation will reach 100–150 mm, and exceed 250 mm in localized regions. Attention should be paid to the potential secondary disasters such as mountain torrents and urban waterlogging.
