Heavy Rainfall Persists in Vietnam and India
Typhoon No. 19, "NARRA", has been meandering over the Beibu Gulf (Figure 1), bringing persistent heavy rainfall to northern Vietnam. This rainfall event is characterized by its long duration and massive accumulated precipitation. Over the next three days, under the combined influence of the typhoon's outer circulation and the southwest monsoon (Figure 2), northern Vietnam will experience heavy to torrential rain, with parts of the northeast facing intense downpours to extreme torrential rain. Accumulated rainfall in these areas is expected to reach 70–150 mm, with some regions receiving 180–250 mm, and localized areas in Ninh Binh Province exceeding 300 mm (Figure 3). Meanwhile, the central and northern waters of Vietnam will see strong winds of force 9–11, with gusts reaching force 11–13. Additionally, influenced by a monsoon depression (Figure 2), central and northern India, Nepal, and surrounding areas will also experience heavy to torrential rain, with localized intense downpours (Figure 3). Vigilance is advised against potential secondary disasters such as flash floods, landslides, and debris flows triggered by the persistent heavy precipitation.
