The Korean Peninsula Will Experience Heavy Rainfall

Over the next three days, influenced by an upper-level cold vortex (Figure 1), North Korea and South Korea will experience heavy to torrential rain, with localized intense downpours, alongside severe convective weather such as short-term heavy rainfall and thunderstorm gales. The heavy precipitation will primarily occur on the 7th. From the 8th to the 9th, rainfall will weaken, with most areas seeing moderate to heavy rain, and isolated heavy rain in South Korea. The accumulated rainfall in most of the aforementioned areas will range from 80 to 150 mm, exceeding 180 mm in localized areas (Figure 2).
