Typhoon Bavi to Affect the Korean Peninsula
Influenced by Typhoon Bavi and the subtropical high belt (Figure 1), heavy to intense rain is expected across the Korean Peninsula from the 13th to the 16th, with localized severe downpours in northwestern Korea. Specifically, accumulated rainfall in the central and northern parts of the Korean Peninsula will reach 60-100 mm, while northwestern Korea will see 120-180 mm, and localized areas in North Pyongan Province, Korea, may exceed 220 mm (Figure 2). On the 13th, light rain will primarily affect Korea during the day, but precipitation will intensify by night. The peak period of heavy rainfall will occur from the 14th to the daytime on the 15th, before gradually weakening from the 16th onwards. Meanwhile, winds of force 6 to 8, with gusts reaching force 10 to 11, are expected in the western Korean Peninsula and its adjacent waters.
