Heavy Rainfall in Southern Vietnam and Western Myanmar
Over the next three days, the Indochina Peninsula will experience frequent showers. Moderate to heavy rain, along with rainstorms in isolated areas, is expected across central and southern Myanmar, most of Thailand, northern and southern Laos, Cambodia, and southern Vietnam. These regions will also be accompanied by severe convective weather, such as short-term intense rainfall and thunderstorm gales. In particular, under the continued influence of the peripheral circulation of a monsoon depression (Figure 1), accumulated rainfall in localized areas of western Myanmar and southern Vietnam will exceed 200 mm (Figure 2). Precautions should be taken against potential secondary disasters triggered by heavy precipitation, such as flash floods and mudslides, as well as the adverse impacts of localized severe convective weather on transportation and outdoor operations.
