India, Myanmar, Korean Peninsula See Heavy Rains; Southern Europe, North America Remain under Heat

Over the next three days, under the influence of the Southwest Monsoon (Fig. 1), western coastal and northern India, northern Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, the Indochina Peninsula, and other areas, as well as southern North Korea and central and northern South Korea under the influence of a lowlevel vortex shear, will generally experience heavy to torrential rain, with locally extremely heavy to exceptionally heavy rain, accompanied by shortterm heavy precipitation, thunderstorm gales, and other severe convective weather (Fig. 2).

Over the same period, under the influence of a high pressure ridge, Spain, southern France, central and southern Italy, Sardinia, Albania, North Macedonia, southern Bulgaria, Greece, and other regions, together with the central and western United States, the southern part of the eastern United States, northern and southeastern Mexico, and Cuba, will widely record temperatures above 35°C, with parts of southern Europe and the southwestern U.S. seeing maximum temperatures exceed 40°C. Furthermore, the Sahara and its northern periphery, eastern Turkmenistan, central and southern West Asia, southern Afghanistan, and southwestern Pakistan will encounter heat above 40°C, with local highs topping 45°C (Fig. 3).
