Traning Background

The Technical Training on Monitoring and Forecasting of Severe Weather over the Lancang-Mekong River Region, co-hosted by the National Meteorological Centre (NMC), and the Yunnan Provincial Meteorological Bureau, will be held in Puer, Yunan during 25-28 March 2024.

To strengthen the technical support for disaster prevention and reduction of China and countries in Lancang-Mekong River Region, develop the construction of regional meteorological disaster prevention and reduction system, propel the radiation and demonstration application of China's meteorological science and technology innovation capability in Lancang-Mekong River Region, promote the sharing of meteorological information and product services in the Lancang-Mekong River region, and establish a joint meeting mechanism for regional meteorological emergency response, it is necessary to strengthen technical exchanges and training of relevant technical personnel.?

The main goal of the training program is to enhance the knowledge and skills of operational staff for monitoring and forecasting weather disasters such as heavy precipitation, floods, and high temperatures over the Lancang-Mekong River Region. The training program invited international well-known experts in the industry, and colleagues from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) Lao DPR, Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), and the Viet Nam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration (VNMHA) will attend the workshop and deliver technical presentations online and offline.?
