India and Pakistan to Experience Intense Rainfall Episodes
Most regions in Afghanistan are experiencing cloudy weather
It is forecasted that in the coming week, influenced by a tropical disturbance (Figure 1), moderate to heavy rain, with localized downpours, is expected in central and western India, southeastern India, and Pakistan. In central and western India and southern Pakistan, intense localized heavy rain is anticipated, accompanied by severe convective weather such as short-duration intense rainfall. The cumulative precipitation in most of these areas is expected to reach 50-90 mm, with parts of central and western India and southern Pakistan receiving 120-180 mm, and localized areas exceeding 280 mm (Figure 2). Attention should be given to the adverse impacts of strong winds and rain on power facilities, transportation, and other sectors in these regions, as well as the potential secondary disasters triggered by heavy rainfall, including flooding, landslides, mudslides, and urban waterlogging.
Additionally, over the next week, most regions in Afghanistan will experience cloudy weather. From the 6th to the 9th, scattered light rain or thunderstorms are expected in Kunar, Nangarhar, and Laghman provinces, with accumulated precipitation ranging from 1 to 6 mm in some areas and locally 10 to 20 mm (Figure 2). Southern Afghanistan will face high temperatures, with maximum temperatures reaching 37-39°C, and locally around 42°C. Other regions will not experience high temperatures. In the capital, Kabul, the maximum temperature will range from 29 to 33°C, and the minimum temperature from 16 to 18°C. The overall average wind speed will be low, which is favorable for earthquake rescue operations.
