Nepal and Northeast India Continue to Experience Heavy Rainfall
It is forecasted that from October 3 to 6, influenced by the monsoon depression, regions including northeastern India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan will experience persistent rainfall. The center of heavy rainfall will move northward from Chhattisgarh, India, to eastern Nepal, bringing torrential or extremely heavy rain to multiple areas in northeastern India and eastern Nepal, with localized extreme precipitation. Specifically, from October 5 to 6, eastern Nepal will see continuous heavy to torrential rain, with some areas experiencing extremely heavy rain, accumulating to 100-150 mm, and locally exceeding 200 mm (Figure 1). These regions will also be accompanied by strong winds of 6-7 levels, with localized gusts exceeding 8 levels (Figure 2). Attention should be given to the potential for heavy rainfall to cause localized flooding and geological landslides in Bihar, India, and eastern Nepal.
