New Zealand Will Experience Severe Rain and Strong wind
It is forecasted that from July 10 to 12, influenced by a cutoff low vortex (Figure 1), in New Zealand, the North Island and parts of the South Island will experience moderate to heavy rain, with localized downpours. In high-altitude areas, light to moderate snow or sleet is expected. The western and northern regions may see accumulated precipitation of 50-80 mm, with localized areas exceeding 100 mm (Figure 2). Additionally, most of central and northern New Zealand will be accompanied by winds of 5-6 on the Beaufort scale, with gusts reaching 7-8, and coastal areas may experience gusts of up to 9-10 (Figure 3). Close attention should be paid to the adverse impacts of this severe wind and rain event on power facilities, transportation, and other industries.
