Luzon in the Philippines to Experience Severe Wind and Rainfall Conditions
Affected by a tropical disturbance, from December 7 to 11, parts of Luzon Island in the Philippines will experience heavy to torrential rain, with localized extremely heavy downpours. Accumulated rainfall in areas such as the Cagayan Valley, eastern Cordillera Administrative Region, and southeastern Central Luzon is expected to reach 100-200 mm, with some regions seeing 300-400 mm and localized areas exceeding 500 mm (Figure 1). This will be accompanied by winds of 4-6 on the Beaufort scale, with localized gusts reaching 7-8 (Figure 2). Precautions should be taken in advance to mitigate potential disruptions to communication and the risk of building collapses. Additionally, there is a high risk of secondary disasters such as flash floods and landslides in some areas.
