A Wide Area of Europe Will Experience Heavy Snowfall and Rainfall,Strong Winds, and Temperature Drop

From November 24 to 29, influenced by an upper-level trough, most of Europe will experience precipitation and cooling weather. Specifically, parts of eastern of Western Europe, southern and eastern of Central Europe, western and northern of Eastern Europe, and northwestern Balkan Peninsula will see heavy to severe snowfall, with localized extreme snowfall. In high-altitude areas such as the Alps, there will be extraordinary heavy snowfall in some localities. Regions including central France, southern Italy, western Slovenia, western Croatia, western Bosnia and Herzegovina, western Montenegro, Albania, and Greece will face heavy to intense rain, with localized torrential rain (Figure 1). Eastern Southern Europe and southwestern Eastern Europe will experience temperature drops of 8-12°C, with some areas seeing exceeding 14°C (Figure 2). Most of these regions will also be accompanied by winds of 5-7 levels, with gusts reaching 8-9 levels (Figure 3). Attention should be given to the adverse impacts of the severe cooling and snowy weather on local power facilities, transportation, and other industries, as well as to the prevention of secondary disasters such as flooding, landslides, and mudslides that may be triggered by heavy rainfall.
