Heatwave will hit central Myanmar in next week

On March 29, most of Myanmar experienced clear weather (Figure 1). It is expected that the Indo-Myanmar trough will be weaker, and the circulation in the northern part of the Indochinese Peninsula will be relatively straight in next week (from March 30 to April 5). Myanmar will mainly have clear to cloudy weather, with the central region accumulating less than 1 mm of precipitation; scattered shower activities are expected in parts of the northeast and north, with rainfall amounts ranging from 3 to 8 mm. In Tanintharyi, the precipitation is expected to be 10 to 20 mm, locally exceeding 30 mm (Figure 2). The average temperature is 2 to 3 centigrade higher than the normal period (Figure 3), with maximum temperatures generally ranging from 35 to 37 centigrade, and minimum temperatures from 24 to 27 centigrade.
