Northeast India to Experience Prolonged Heavy Rainfall
Affected by warm and moist air currents (Figure 1), continuous heavy rainfall is expected in northeastern India from April 24 to 27, with localized extreme downpours. This will be accompanied by severe convective weather, including short-duration intense rainfalls and thunderstorms with strong winds. Specifically, most parts of Assam are forecasted to receive cumulative rainfall of 40-80 mm, with some areas seeing 100-150 mm, and localized regions exceeding 250 mm (Figure 2).
