Heavy Rainfall Expected in India, Myanmar, and Bangladesh
Over the next five days, influenced by the southwest monsoon, countries including India and the Indo-China Peninsula are expected to experience increased rainfall. A monsoon depression will bring heavy to very heavy downpours to northeastern Indian states, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. Additionally, southern Indian states such as Kerala, Goa, and the western part of Karnataka will see heavy to very heavy rain, with localized extreme downpours. In some areas, precipitation is anticipated to approach or exceed historical extremes.
Meanwhile, the cold air spreading southward from a low-pressure vortex will continue to impact Central Asia, eastern West Asia, and northern South Asia. Moderate to heavy rain is expected in countries such as Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, while northern Afghanistan and Pakistan will experience showers. Additionally, localized areas will be prone to severe convective weather, including thunderstorms and strong winds.
