Persistent heavy rainfall is occurring in the eastern and southern parts of the Indochinese Peninsula
Over the next week (October 26 to November 1), influenced by tropical disturbances and persistent easterly airflow (Figure 1), central and southern Vietnam, southern Laos, most of Cambodia, and southern Thailand will experience moderate to heavy rainfall, with some areas likely to see torrential or extreme downpours accompanied by severe convective weather such as short-duration intense rain. The cumulative rainfall in most of these regions is expected to reach 50-120 mm, with some areas receiving 150-200 mm. Notably, localized areas in central Vietnam could exceed 400 mm (Figure 2). Attention should be given to the potential for heavy rainfall to trigger secondary disasters such as flooding, landslides, mudslides, and urban waterlogging.
