The remnants of Cyclone DITWAH will impact the eastern coastal regions of India

"DITWAH" weakened into a tropical depression in the western Bay of Bengal on the afternoon of November 30. Affected by the remnants of its northward-moving circulation, parts of northern Chennai, southern Andhra Pradesh, and other regions in India are expected to experience moderate to heavy rain, with localized heavy downpours or intense rain, from December 2 to 3. The cumulative rainfall in most of these areas is anticipated to be between 30 and 50 millimeters, with some regions receiving 60 to 80 millimeters, and localized areas exceeding 100 millimeters (Figure 1). Winds of 4 to 6 on the Beaufort scale are expected, with gusts potentially reaching above 7 (Figure 2). Precautions should be taken in advance to prevent potential disruptions to power facilities, transportation, and the collapse of buildings due to the strong winds and rain. Additionally, there is a high risk of secondary disasters such as flash floods and landslides in some areas.
