Heavy Rainfall Expected in Argentina and Uruguay

Over the next 3 days, under the influence of a cyclonic system (Figure 1), parts of central-northern Argentina, southern Brazil, southern Paraguay, Uruguay, and central Chile will experience moderate to heavy rain. Localized torrential rain is expected in northeastern Argentina and southern Uruguay (Figure 2). These areas may encounter severe convective weather including short-duration intense rainfall. Additionally, some areas will experience strong winds of 6-7 on the Beaufort scale, with gusts reaching 9-10.

Attention should be given to the adverse impacts of strong winds and heavy rain on power facilities, transportation, and other industries in the aforementioned regions. Additionally, there is a risk of secondary disasters such as flooding, landslides, debris flows, and urban waterlogging that may be triggered by the intense rainfall.
