Northern India and Northern Pakistan to Experience Intense Rainfall Episodes
It is expected that over the next three days, influenced by a low vortex (Figure 1), parts of northern India and northern Pakistan will experience frequent moderate to heavy rainfall, with localized heavy rain or extremely heavy rain. These regions will also be accompanied by short-duration intense convective rainfall. In some areas, cumulative precipitation is anticipated to reach 50-90 mm, with localized totals exceeding 150 mm (approaching or surpassing historical extremes for the same period) (Figure 2).
Attention should be given to the adverse impacts of strong winds and heavy rain on power infrastructure, transportation, and other sectors in the aforementioned regions. Additionally, there is a risk of secondary disasters such as flooding, landslides, mudslides, and urban waterlogging that may be triggered by the intense rainfall.
