Parts of Central and Northern Africa are experiencing heavy rainfall events

It is forecasted that from September 4 to 6, influenced by a tropical disturbance (Figure 1), regions including western Ethiopia, northern Nigeria, southwestern Niger, eastern Burkina Faso, northern C?te d'Ivoire, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, southern Mali, Mauritania, and northern Senegal will experience moderate to heavy rainfall, with some areas likely to see torrential rain and localized extremely heavy downpours. These regions will also be accompanied by severe convective weather such as short-duration intense rainfall and thunderstorms with strong winds. The cumulative precipitation is expected to range from 40-80 mm, with localized areas reaching 90-130 mm (Figure 2).

Attention should be given to the potential secondary disasters triggered by heavy rainfall in the aforementioned areas, including flooding, landslides, mudslides, and urban waterlogging.
