Flooding has hit Bolivia
From March 17th to 20th, under the influence of the intermittent strengthening of the easterly jet stream and topographical uplift, parts of Bolivia experienced moderate to heavy rain, with local heavy downpours. Some areas in the central Beni, southern Santa Cruz, and eastern Tarija provinces accumulated rainfall of 40 to 80 mm, with locally over 100 mm (Figure 1), triggering floods.
It is anticipated that from March 22 to 24, Bolivia will continue to experience light to moderate rainfall, with heavy rain or rainstorms occurring in southern Beni Province and parts of Cochabamba Province; in addition, central and northern Paraguay will see heavy to rainstorms, with locally severe rainstorms (Figure 2).
