On April 3, the China Meteorological Administration(CMA) Key Laboratory of Hydro-meteorology was officially unveiled in Beijing. Bi Baogui, Deputy Administrator of the CMA, attended the unveiling ceremony and delivered a speech. He emphasized to strengthen the research on stranglehold scientific areas related to hydro-meteorological research in river basins, the implementation and application of achievements and talent foster.
Zhang Jianyun, academician of the CAE Member, Jiao Meiyan, former deputy director of the CMA, Zheng Jinhai, vice-president of Hohai University, leaders and experts from relevant internal institutions of the CMA, the Natural Resources Department, the Emergency Management Department, the Joint Staff Department of the Military Commission and other departments were invited to attend the meeting. Laboratory personnel, members of the Academic Committee, and representatives of laboratory construction units attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Hengde, Deputy Director of the National Meteorological Center. Hong Lanjiang, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, also attended.
In the future, CMA Key Laboratory of Hydro-Meteorology will keep focusing on hydrological and meteorological disaster recovery and mechanism research, multi-source identification and monitoring of meteorological disasters throughout the entire process, multi-scale hydro-meteorological coupled Intelligent forecasting, and meteorological disaster risk warning and impact assessment (ocean meteorological navigation included), relied on the construction of meteorological support demonstration bases for disaster prevention in small and medium-sized river basins.
