Another Round of Heavy Rainfall Expected in Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Surrounding Areas

Influenced by the southwest monsoon and a low-pressure system (Figure 1), moderate to heavy rain is expected over the next three days across Bangladesh, eastern India, Nepal, Bhutan, northern and southeastern Myanmar, eastern Thailand, Laos, and northern Vietnam. Some areas will experience rainstorms, with localized intense downpours, accompanied by severe convective weather such as short-term heavy rainfall and thunderstorm gales. The three-day accumulated precipitation will range from 60 to 100 mm, exceeding 150 mm in localized areas, and surpassing 200 mm locally in northern Myanmar (Figure 2). Precautions are advised against potential secondary disasters, including flash floods, landslides, and debris flows, triggered by the persistent rainfall.
