Argentina Will Experience Heavy Rainfall
It is forecasted that over the next three days, influenced by a cyclonic system (Figure 1), parts of central and northern Argentina, central Chile, central and southern Paraguay, Uruguay, and southern Brazil will experience moderate to heavy rain, with some areas in central and northern Argentina likely to see torrential or extreme downpours. The cumulative precipitation in most of these regions is expected to range from 50 to 90 mm, with localized areas in Córdoba Province exceeding 150 mm (Figure 2). These regions will also be accompanied by severe convective weather, including short-duration intense rainfall. Additionally, some areas will experience strong winds of 6 to 7 gales, with gusts reaching 9 to 10.
Attention should be given to the adverse impacts of strong winds and heavy rain on power infrastructure, transportation, and other industries in the aforementioned regions. Additionally, there is a risk of secondary disasters such as flooding, landslides, mudslides, and urban waterlogging that may be triggered by the intense rainfall.
